Best Building Inspections For Milton Investments

Don’t Forget To Organise Property Inspections If You’re House Hunting In Milton

Milton is an inner suburb of Brisbane, only 2km from the centre of the city. The area is an eclectic mix of light industry, small business, retail premises, older houses and multiple dwelling buildings. The suburb is possibly best known for being home to the Fourex Brewery with its iconic neon lights above the building. It’s a great spot, but that doesn’t mean you won’t need building inspections for your new Milton purchase.

There are many reasons why it’s great living in Milton

The wide range of housing styles in Milton has resulted in a population diverse in age, occupation and ethnicity. First settled in the 1840s, it’s one of Brisbane’s more established suburbs and consequently there are a number of heritage-listed buildings in Milton as well as in the neighbouring suburbs of Rosalie and Paddington.

One of the main attractions of Milton is its proximity to the CBD. A very quick commute by bus or train makes it popular with city-based professionals and it’s certainly within easy cycling distance for those inclined.

The University of Queensland nearby at St Lucia also means that students, who tend to share either older style Queenslanders or units in the suburb’s many apartment complexes, love living in Milton. Major arterial roads give convenient access to larger suburban shopping centres and the suburb itself is exceptionally well serviced by medical and other professional practices.

There are a number of steep, hilly streets in Milton and homes in these locations often enjoy spectacular city views. There’s no shortage of entertainment or dining options with a huge variety of cafes, patisseries, gourmet delicatessens and also high-end restaurants. Milton State School enjoys a very strong reputation and the area surrounding the school grounds is family friendly.

Suncorp Stadium, fondly known as Lang Park, is a notable landmark and the home playing ground for a number of sporting teams, including the Brisbane Broncos NRL club. The stadium is also used as the city’s largest outdoor stadium for touring rock artists.

Buying a property in Milton will cost buyers well above the state average house price. $710,000 is the median purchase cost for a home, but that accounts for a broad range of property styles. In Milton you’ll find immaculately renovated Queenslanders through to renovation-ready smaller workers’ cottages. The cost of purchasing a two-bedroom apartment is on average $510,000.

Why Milton may not be the suburb for you.

Yes, Milton is a revered and much loved Brisbane suburb, but it’s not for everyone. Aside from higher than state average property prices, lower lying areas of the suburb are prone to flooding and were badly affected in the 2011 floods. Be sure to use the skills of an experienced building inspector who knows the history of Milton before you buy.

Another consideration to note is the heavy traffic congestion that builds along Milton Road and Coronation Drive daily during peak commuting times. Traffic to the area can also be problematic when there’s a sporting match or event being held at Suncorp Stadium. Noise and crowd behaviour could also be a deterrent if looking at a property close to the venue.
